Beautiful rooms in a lovely old building set in gorgeous grounds – you couldn't choose a more peaceful spot from which to see St Davids and Pembrokeshire.
St Davids Haverfordwest Pembrokeshire SA62 6PG 01437 725 588
Situated on the edge of St Davids, Pembrokeshire, from the outside Penrhiw is an impressive and imposing monument to
Victorian grandeur. As soon as you set foot inside, however, it is clear that
the building has been refurbished to exacting contemporary
sensibilities: suede wallpaper and contemporary artworks set the scene for a boutique small venue that nestles
in acres of private gardens, surrounded by woodland paths, river and meadow.
There are just seven en-suite bedrooms and a spacious ground floor suite, all of which come with robes and slippers, aromatherapy toiletries, Sky TV, and iPod docking stations, digital radio, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. Breakfast is sumptuous (including the unmissable Welsh seaweed delicacy Laverbread) and there is a complimentary evening transfer for dinner, to the sister hotel, Twr y Felin, which boasts the award-winning Blas restaurant, overseen by Head Chef Simon Coe.
It’s only a short stroll into St Davids – Britain’s smallest city – with its cathedral dating back to the sixth century. In addition to the cathedral, notable features of the city include the 14th-century Tower Gate, the war memorial on the Cross Square, a number of art galleries, and some fine local pubs. Take a walk to Whitesands Beach, rated by many as one of the finest beaches in Europe, or go further afield to the striking hills of Carn Llidi, with breathtaking views of St David’s Head and the Ramsey Island RSPB bird reserve.
Penrhiw is a particularly tranquil place, so it's not for young kids or pets, and is a perfect base from which to explore St Davids and the Pembrokeshire countryside.
The definition of tranquillity, Penrhiw Hotel, St Davids, nestles in acres of private gardens, enveloped by woodland paths, river and meadow. Choose a bed and breakfast stay or take exclusive use and enjoy luxury accommodation, fine dining at two Rosette Blas Restaurant at our sister hotel, Twr y Felin, and the perfect location to explore Pembrokeshire.
