Lochhouses Farm Tyninghame East Lothian EH42 1XP 017817968985
Glamping, or posh camping, is all the rage these days in Scotland, and one of the country's finest sites lies handily tucked less than a hour’s drive from Edinburgh in the sunniest region of Scotland, East Lothian. Harvest Moon Holidays offer seven ‘luxury safari tents’, real oases away from the modern world. There may be no electricity in the eight person tents, but there is a proper toilet and shower, as well as running water and a wood burning stove, so it is all very civilised. Harvest Moon is great for kids too, with a play store, treehouse and loads of farm and wild animals hopping around in the field outside. Over the dunes a superb sandy beach awaits, before dinner around the campfire. Think glamping is cheating a bit? Come here and you will be a convert. Ideal for first time campers too. In 2014 they added seven luxury seven-person treehouses nearby, which are reviewed on Cool Places separately.
