B&B, glamping, camping and a hostel – in a beautiful, eco-friendly Highland oasis.

Comrie Croft

We say

Situated a few miles north of the charming town of Dunblane, on the edge of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park, Comrie Croft is as good – and as convenient – an introduction to the natural glories of Scotland as you would wish for. An eco-friendly Highland oasis, it's got a bit of something for everyone, and accommodation of all kinds from three cosy rooms in a farmhouse B&B to dorm beds in a converted farmstead, to brilliant camping either in the safety of a field with other campers close to all the excellent amenities or wilder hillside and forest pitches. Or you can cheat a little by hiring one of their katas, recently renovated Swedish tipis replete with a wood burning stove and a big sleeping area laden with animal furs. There are hot, solar-powered showers by the car park, along with a seriously well-stocked camping store, bike hire, a biking skills loop, and the new Tea Garden, where you can pick up the likes of a Scottish smoked salmon bagel with cream cheese.

It's a great location, with fabulous walking and cycle trails in every direction, so even if you arrive by car, you can tuck your keys away for the duration of your stay. It's also extremely eco-friendly, with an emphasis on self-sufficiency, recycling and rural regeneration – not to mention a brilliant farm shop stacked full of local produce. And whatever kind of accommodation you choose, you can sleep to the sounds of the owls and deer outside. Who said campers had to always rough it?
