A beautiful glamping or wild camping experience in beautiful Sussex countryside.

Wimbles Farm

Foords Lane Vines Cross Horam Heathfield East Sussex TN21 9HA 01435 810 390

We say

Nestled in the beautiful Sussex countryside, Wimbles Farm campsite and B&B is the perfect site for those who want to try a bit of wild camping but aren't sure if they can bear the potential discomforts. It's as close to wild camping as you can get, but with ablution facilities to ease you through the experience, with two well maintained pitching areas located by a meandering stream in a secluded flower meadow, and a standpipe for fresh water, fire-pits, compost toilets and access to a shower. There's only room for half a dozen or so tents, so there’s no danger of overcrowding. If you really can't face it there's a recently renovated shepherds hut with its own facilities in a quiet corner of the flower meadow with hot showers and bunks for the kids and its own fire-pitAs for things to see and do, you can start right on the farm. Coarse fishing is available from the site's own lake and bike hire and guided cycling tours are also available. It's also the only site we know where you can have your own pottery throw-down challenge! And if you can't hack the camping any longer, the B&B up at the house is the perfect refuge!

They say

Our bespoke Shepherd’s Hut provides an ideal romantic getaway for couples looking to escape to the countryside or for families that don’t quite do camping!

Our  hand made Shepherds hut provides self-contained accommodation for 2 adults and 2 children with a double bed and separate bunk room,  a kitchenette with gas cooker, dining area and a unique recycled woodstove, hot shower cubicle (bring towels).  We provide the bed linen & duvet for the double bed but not sleeping bags/bedding for children (under 16). The hut has its own eco compost toilet nearby which comes with flower arrangements and country living mags!

We provide a welcome pack which usually includes fresh farm eggs, bread, butter, milk, cereal and some fire wood to get you started.

Our Favourite Spot

In summer evenings enjoy a BBQ and glass of wine around a camp fire in the river meadow while the children are tucked up in bed. The Hut is positioned at the top of the river meadow amongst the wild flowers and trees..

A wonderful adventure ★★★★★

We stayed at Wimbles Farm in October in both the Eco Barn and Shepherd's Hut. Such a wonderful, relaxing place and great to get away from the hustle and bustle of London. Mark and his family were exceptional hosts, taking their time to advise what was good to do to ensure we made the most of our experience. Fishing was a real treat and would recommend for an afternoon of two! The accommodation is perfect and well equipped with everything you will need for your stay. The welcome pack was a real treat and the offer of freshly picked vegetables fantastic for dinner in the evenings. I would, without hesitation recommend Wimbles Farm. With the variety of accommodation available it is suitable for everyone and for many occasions. Take advantage of local produce available to purchase at the farm-we left with a car full of goodies!

Unique and exceptional! ★★★★★

We stayed here in June, in the Shepherd's Hut, with friends alongside us in Smurf, their blue VW campervan. What a wonderful place. The welcome pack and facilities were truly excellent. The owners couldn't have been more friendly or helpful. It was so peaceful. The layout of the field is very clever - even though there were other campers you could hardly see or hear them, so it was like we had the whole field to ourselves! We enjoyed barbecues, ball games and the icing on the cake was the look on our 2 year old's face when the donkey was taken for a walk round the field to visit us on Saturday morning!!, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this to anyone - a romantic place for couples but also fabulous for a fun, outdoor family break.
