Immediately east of Woodbridge, Rendlesham Forest is a Forestry-Commission-owned stretch of coniferous woodland and heath – a beautiful area that’s great walking, cycling and indeed camping country, and famous for its UFO sightings ijn the 1980s, which have since passed into the folklore of conspiracy theories, based as they were near Bentwaters USAF base and nearby RAF Woodbridge. The Rendlesham Forest Centre has car parking and a small information centre with leaflets detailing “UFO Trails”, bike hire and forest camping nearby, and is a convergence point for bike trails and footpaths, although the forest has any number of other carparks and clearings where you can park up and hike off into the woods.
