We say

Founded just under two decades ago by the Peake family (who created the popular juice brand Copella, and whose orchards still provide the fruit for Copella juices), Stoke by Nayland Hotel Golf & Spa is a very comfortable, family-owned and -run hotel deep in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. Situated in a lovely location at the heart of Dedham Vale AONB, and within a stone's through of the delights of Constable Country, you would be very comfortable indeed installed in one of their double rooms or suites, and it makes a perfect destination for a lazy weekend from London. The family have also  added a number of beautiful self-catering lodges deep in the grounds, full of light with high-spec fitted kitchens and furnishings. Built on the site of the Women’s Land Army hostel that used to be at the centre of the family estate (part of which has been admirably preserved as a small museum), the lodges are an ideal alternative for families, wedding parties or just couples who want a bit more flexibility in their stay. You can choose between one- and two-bedroom lodges, with large living rooms, contemporary kitchens and large wooden decks;  some of them overlook the hotel's golf course, while others have a more secluded, woodland feel., and the nice thing is you can use all the facilities of the hotel while retaining a bit more privacy in what is a lovely, bucolic, secluded location just a 5–10-minute walk form the hotel';s main building. If you can't be bothered to walk, just order in via a 24/7 porter – or you can hire your own chef to come over and serve you a private dinner.  Guests also receive a welcome hamper on arrival containing tea, coffee, fresh milk, biscuits, wine  – and, naturally, a bottle of Copella juice!

Whether you stay in the lodges or not, the hotel and its estate make a perfect spot for an indolent weekend break in the country. It has no less than two golf courses, a state-of-the-art gym, a spa with indoor pool and hot tub and a range of blissful treatments on offer, and a well-equipped shop selling high-end food and drink items, clothes and gifts. The hotel also boasts arguably some of the biggest and best wedding facilities in the county and has a cosy bar and good restaurant which serves high-end food at moderate prices and has a large terrace which you can enjoy on balmy summer evenings. The bar also does burgers and lots of other well-cooked but comforting fare if you want something simpler.  All in all, if you're after a flexible self-catering break in the country, not far from London, it would be hard to find anywhere nicer.
