Give yourself a thorough overview of the city with this museum, which covers Oxford from prehistoric times until the present. There are trails for the kids, and various specific activities, with the emphasis on mess and mischief, catapult making and clay pots, for example. Guided tours are also an option.

This museum has moved into the Town Hall ground floor so it can renovate it's old location on the side. I visited in the old location and really enjoyed this with my young daughter. The dressing up was great and the displays are family-friendly. So much better than the Ashmolean with young children.
