Station Lane Cloughton Scarborough North Yorks YO13 0AD 01723 870 896
There's a wonderful yesteryear feel at the Cloughton Station Tea Room – if the Famous Five wheeled their bikes around the corner and tucked into a bumper afternoon tea, no one would bat an eyelid. The garden is an absolute charmer – white tables on a close-cropped lawn, with summer flowers and shady trees – and it makes a welcome stop for walkers and cyclists on the Cinder Track, the old Scarborough to Whitby railway line, which runs right past the station. The menu is just as you would expect – homemade scones, cakes, cream teas, lemonade, classic sandwiches – and the traditional feel continues inside the building, which was once the Station Master's quarters. Fancy a night here? They also offer B&B, plus self-catering in a converted good shed and old camping coach.
