The Churchill Arms

119 Kensington Church Street London W8 7LN 020 7727 4242

We say

"Churchill's" is a Kensington institution, popular with locals and visitors alike. From the outside, the place may appear to be just a traditional English pub bedecked in bright blooming flowers, but dodge the drinkers at the packed bar to head out the back and you’ll find yourself in a charming butterfly garden-inspired restaurant which serves some of the best (and cheapest) Thai food in town. The stir-frys and curries arrive on plates piled high, service is friendly and swift and there are several local real ales on tap to quench the thirst. If you’re not used to spicy food, beware, this is one restaurant that doesn’t scrimp on chillies. And be prepared to eat and run, tables are turned over with breakneck speed.

A legend ★★★★★

Gerry, the manager who has run this pub for donkey's years is the absolute star attraction and is the reason this place is so popular. "would you like a drink - while you waiting" Come Christmas time he and his staff festoon the place with Christmas decorations hanging from the ceiling making it an absolute fairy's grotto of a boozer. Same on Paddy's day or other traditional celebrations. It's the sort of place where you feel you have just gate crashed into someone else's party and you are very welcome. There is a great vibe of locals and tourists and old regulars that give this place a proper pub feel. The Thai food is fab, modestly priced and can be as hot as your hat if you want. All in all its a great night out and has been over the years voted as one of the best pubs in London.

Lovely pub ★★★★☆

A great little pub in the middle of Kensington and not far from Notting Hill. If you're looking for a nice traditional pub in the area this is one of the best, though it does get cramped on weekends inside as there isn't a lot of room and it's a popular place.
