Right on the corner of the beginning of time, where else would you find a gift shop like this but Greenwich?
25 Nelson Road Greenwich London SE10 9JB 088581066
We sayPart of a small maritime-themed retail chain, with branches in salty sorts of places all over the country, Nauticalia is the ultimate perfectly placed, on-message gift shop, situated footsteps from the Meridian Line, bang in the heart of Maritime – and commercial – Greenwich. It's been catering to the folk who visit this part of town for years, and does a great job not only of providing impulse buys for tourists but also nautical items of real practical value – some of which you might use on a boat, others that you will might even keep forever. First the trinkets: they have lots of fun gifts with a maritime theme – ships in bottles, sailor's caps and the usual array of mugs, key-rings and pencils. But they also sell a fab range of maritime clothing, from superb chunky unisex sweaters to wellies and smocks and the inevitable Breton fishermen's caps, plus they stock books and CDs, games, clocks, compasses and barometers – and of course telescopes for star-spotting and sextants for a spot of celestial navigation: everything in short the part-time sailor and inspired dilettante might want. It's hard to walk through the centre of Greenwich without passing this shop – why not pop in for a look?
