Distinctive hotel in an immaculately modernised bishop’s palace within striking distance of the Cathedral and Castle.

The Old Palace Hotel

Minster Yard Lincoln LN2 1PU 01522 504 076

We say

Lincoln’s best and most distinctive hotel, the Old Palace occupies the former bishop’s palace, a rambling mostly nineteenth-century stone building footsteps from the cathedral. Opened in 2012, the hotel has 32 rooms, half in the main house and half in the adjoining lodge, including one superb suite in a beautifully adapted 1920s chapel. The hotel drawing room occupies the old library, there are wide views over the city and much of the furniture has been purpose made by members of the local woodcrafters’ guild. One room also exhibits the charming watercolours of Matthew Flinders and the tower suite is on two levels with a sitting room perched high up in one of the towers. Perhaps more than anything else, it’s the air of easy comfort that is the hotel’s most delightful feature - at times you almost feel like the bishop himself!
