The whole of the beach west of the Old Neptune pub is known as West Beach. The area around the Old Neptune is one of the busier spots in Whitstable, but as you walk west towards Seasalter there are fewer and fewer people; within five minutes you should be able to find a spot to yourself. Otherwise it’s a typical Whitstable beach, rather stony, divided by groynes, and with a huge expanse of exposed mud when the tide’s out – good for crabbing – and great, safe swimming when the tide comes in.
