A curiosity of a place, the Ship Inn was originally a warehouse to store contraband seized from smugglers. Mind your head on the low beams in the bar and choose from a range of traditional ales or from a decent wine list. There are sofas if you want to flop and a great menu of snacks such as rock oysters, scallops and Arbroath smokies, as well as more substantial fare such as pork, bean and chorizo stew served with a chunk of fresh crusty bread. The interior is fairly stark yet still has a warm and friendly feel, something aided by the staff and locals who make this place such a top choice.
