Pier Approach Bournemouth BH2 5AA 01202 554 211
Lounge on one of the swing seats on the terrace sipping a margarita as the sun sets over the sea and you almost could be in the Caribbean at this tropical-themed bar/café/restaurant. Inside it’s all wooden floors, palm trees and pretty lanterns with a parrot who flies freely around the bar, while outside you can watch the world go by on the pier below and on the beach. The cocktails are great, and the meze platter (£13) is a tasty way to soak up the booze. By day, it's a family-friendly place to chill and enjoy the view, but by night it turns into party city.
I've been to Aruba on several occasions for parties and with family. As a lunchtime or midweek evening meal it's lovely. It is quite expensive compared to some places, but it's like sitting in the Carribbean and with the view and setting on a lovely day it's brilliant.
Of an evening, especially if you have younger children, it's not the best place to go. And I would avoid it at the weekend late evening..as it is used for partying- a bit like a bar/club!
But overall- the atmosphere and setting..food and drinks it's fab!
This bar might be in a fantastic location looking straight out to sea, but head here on a Saturday night at your peril. It gets so crowded that navigating your way around the bar to get to the toilet becomes an impossibility. Also, maybe I'm not the typical clientele, but if you want to see a bunch of girls who look like TOWiE rejects, and a load of rugby boys touching them up, then this is the place for you! Seriously, if anyone had come in with a naked flame, I swear most people would've either melted or combusted. Plastic and chemicals? Not with my vodka cheers.
