Stour River walk

Wick Lane Bournemouth BH6 4LF

Bournemouth may be famous for its sea, but it's also skirted by the tranquil waters of the River Stour, and the prettiest stretch runs from Tuckton Bridge to Wick Village. Start at Tuckton Tea Gardens near the bridge (there's a car park on Wick Lane) and follow the riverside path east, through attractive parkland. Alternatively, you can park in Christchurch and take the little Wick ferry over the river and pick up the path where the ferry docks. The path continues for about half a mile, where it heads slightly inland through fields. You can continue on to Hengistbury Head, or skirt back to where you started through the picturesque Wick Village (this takes around 20 minutes in total).
