I love Stones. It's simply a fantastic restaurant. Local food, responsibly sourced and cooked from scratch with imagination and flair by chef Kevin Stones. Perched by the River Derwent, Stones is an absolute joy in the summer. A great cocktail menu and pre-meal breads of treacle and truffle, there's the likes of seared scallops, curried potato, onion purée, crispy onion or, for veggies, chestnut mushroom and taleggio tortellini, wilted kale, grain mustard sauce. Desserts include chocolate and caramel mousse, cocoa macaroons, coffee and chocolate crumble. It's a brilliant little discovery.

Lunch is £16.50 for two courses, £19.50 for three. Dinner is £27 and £30 respectively.
Lunch is 12-2 Wednesday to Saturday. Dinner is 6.30-9pm Tuesday to Saturday
