Grange Bridge Cottage Tea Shop

Grange Borrowdale CA12 5UQ 01768 777 201

We say

A perfect lunch or afternoon tea stop on a sunny day, Grange Bridge Cottage enjoys an idyllic riverside location, just off the road through Borrowdale – it's one car at a time over the narrow bridge and then park where you can in the tiny hamlet of Grange (or you can come by launch from Keswick and walk from Lodore landing stage, about a mile away). Homemade specials are along the lines of fresh asparagus soup, leek-and-ham pie, or trout from the trout farm up the road, and although there's a homely cottage interior, the real draw is being able to sit outside at the picnic tables set right on top of a bed of flat rocks above the river. It's a real sun-trap – but you can always cool off afterwards with a takeaway ice cream and a splash in the river.
