Rheged

Redhills Penrith CA11 0DQ 01768 868 000

We say

Rheged visitor centre is anchored around its big-screen 3D cinema screen, which brings in a lot of custom, especially on rainy Lakes days. But there’s more to the place than the movies, starting with the fact that Rheged is Europe’s largest earth-covered building (sited in an old quarry) – it’s pretty much invisible on Google Earth. Inside are various cafés, including the excellent deli and shop, Taste, plus a selection of Cumbrian gift outlets, changing Lake District exhibitions and all manner of activities and events, from farmers markets to craft workshops.
