The Minack Theatre

Porthcurno Penzance TR19 6JU 01736 810 181

We say

Bring a blanket and picnic and watch a play at the ocean’s edge. Whether you opt to see a Roald Dahl adaptation or full-blown musical such as West Side Story, the scenery is as mesmerising as any of the performances you catch in this amphitheatre carved into the cliffs. It’s certainly the only location known to witness unscripted dolphins in a Shakespeare play, and the ocean makes a stunning backdrop even in the Cornish mizzle (that’s mist and drizzle).

A Must See/Experience ★★★★★

Stunning Views and a wonderful and uplifting story are what this visitor experience offers. Have visited several times winter, summer and autumn and it never fails with the WOW factor. To experience a show is something else but a visit here is definitely something to have on your bucket list.....

Outdoor theatre ★★★★★

A great place to see plays, and this is a lovely place to visit even when the shows are not on. You can walk down to the beach via a steep coastal path and take in the view. So even if you are not interested in the theatre, the story of its construction and the scenery are well worth the visit.
