Fifteen Cornwall

On the Beach Watergate Bay TR8 4AA 01637 861 000

We say

‘I have never seen a better seaside setting for a restaurant – I am well chuffed’, Jamie Oliver exclaimed of the two-miles of wave-lashed golden sands on which he opened the doors to Fifteen Cornwall. Recently refurbished with a charcoal-fired oven and a swanky antipasti bar, here you can enjoy Italian-inspired cuisine made from the best Cornish ingredients. Yet this isn’t just a showcase of the best seasonal and local produce in a great location, it is also part of a global social enterprise training apprentice chefs in need of a second chance in life. Make sure you book in advance, or get up early and come for breakfast.

Awful and Expensive ★★☆☆☆

Me and my wife are a huge fan of the Jamie Oliver restaurants and we eat at the one in Nottingham on a regular basis where the food is absolutely out of this world. We decided to pay Fifteen a visit on our holiday last year (2013) and to make this our holiday treat. What a disappointment it was. The choice on the menu was pitiful and the prices were an absolute joke. When the main dish was served it was bulked out with Lentils so after about halfway through you'd had enough lentils to last you a life time. We then asked a member of staff to take a picture of us both in the lovely surroundings and my goodness this was a major effort to them which I couldn't believe. I did raise the conversation that we were not happy with our food when we were asked if everything was o.k and the response we got was "Oh I'm sorry about that" and that was the end of it, we were never offered to speak to management or anything. Needless to say we will not be ever going back to this place. However the view and setting is to die for. But to sum it up a real expensive let down.
