This airy and elegant curiosity shop is the sort of place that features in interior designers’ little black books, but also has plenty to delight mere mortals. The mainstays are period lighting, mirrors and fittings – everything from Art Nouveau chandeliers to swing-flapped theatrical floodlights, plus a huge range of characterful knobs and knockers. But there are always striking one-offs too: an antique wooden Boots shopping trolley, or a Georgia O’Keeffe-esque mounted antelope skull, for example. There’s a couture millinery workshop inside as well, producing statement hats for Ascot or beyond. A wonderful shop to rummage and dream.
