An organic, family-run dairy farm that has won awards-a-plenty for its eco-initiatives, Caerfai Farm is one of the original pioneers of the low-carbon life, manifest in the landmark wind turbine you pass on your way down the lane. Our colleagues at Cool Camping have written up their fabulous campsite, which enjoys a marvellous location perched atop a Pembrokeshire cliff, but you don't need to be a camper to stay here because they also have a group of well-equipped holiday cottages, set away from the main farm buildings and the campsite but enjoying equally spectacular views over the Pembrokeshire coast. There are four cottages in all – the one-bedroom Stable, which sleeps two, The Barn and The Well, which each have two bedrooms and can accomodate four, and the largest cottage, Isaf, which has three bedrooms – one double and two twins – and sleeps six. All the cottages have wood-burning stoves (logs included) – a cosy extra on this stunningly beautiful but rather exposed stretch of the coast. All of the properties also come with washing machines and tumble dryers (except Stable Cottage), CD players and a TV, a microwave, and a cot if you need one. There is also a fantastic little farm shop open from mid May till the end of August, that sells outstanding local produce including matured Caerfai Cheddar and Caerphilly cheese, all produced on the farm, and excellent morning croissants for breakfast. What's more, you're just an easy walk from St Davids and the coastal path, and brilliantly placed to explore all the beautiful beaches that North Pembrokeshire has to offer. Or just stay put and enjoy the location, or maybe wander across to the farm and watch the cows being milked in the milking parlour.

Weekly, The Stable starts at £250, Well Cottage at £320, Caerfai Isaf at £310 and The Barn at £285. Short breaks or long weekends are available out of season.

Getting There

From Haverfordwest, take the A487 to St David’s. Look out for the Visitor Centre on the left when approaching St David’s and take the left just before it. After about 1/2 mile, the Caerfai Farm Shop (and booking office) is on the left.
