The Scott Apartment
Scotland Lothian Edinburgh
Many Edinburgh accommodations are named with at best loose associations to the city’s most important historic luminaries. The Scott Apartment is an exception, as the great Scottish writer Sir Walter Scott actually lived in this grand Georgian building from 1802 to 1826. This plush apartment resides in the basement and functions like a sort of tourist submarine as you can pop up right in the heart of Edinburgh just off the glitzy shopping thoroughfare of George Street. It comfortably sleeps six people, with three stylish bedrooms, but the highlight is the large, light living room with its comfy sofas, iPod dock, stereo and, of course, old editions of Scott novels. The kitchen is equally swish and a neat touch is the TV at the foot of the bath. The bijou urban garden is a chilled place to enjoy breakfast or a coffee on a warm day. Great for groups or a big family.
