Elie Granary
If acres of space, proximity to a great beach, epic views and a variety of areas to suit all ages make the perfect family self-catering escape, then this is it. Perched right on the harbour in the picturesque old Fife fishing village of Elie, this old granary is unmistakable. This oasis hogs the top level of this grand old building, opening up sweeping views of the rugged coastline, Bass Rock and even across to Edinburgh. Seabirds swirl around within touching distance and you can watch gannets diving for their supper. The beach sits just outside, a clean, sweeping affair that handily comes with a pub beer garden perched on its fringes. The Granary itself is an impressive abode, split into two levels, and updated in slick contemporary style. The ground floor is expansive, with a living area complete with twin sofas and a table tennis table at one end of a wood floored central corridor and a kitchen area with a Smeg fridge and chunky wooden picnic-table style dining table at the other. Two double bedrooms lie nearby as does a bath with views. Windows abound, letting light pour in and offering views at every turn. Upstairs there are wee beds for the little ones and lashings of toys to play with. Two wood-burning stoves await adults chilling out when the children are tucked up in bed.
