This one-bedroom cottage is a great base for exploring the Isle of Arran for a couple or a family with babies or small children, conveniently situated in the island's largest village just a few miles south of the main ferry port. It's unusual in a number of ways. It has a lovely verandah giving fantastic views over Lamlash's Bay and Holy Island, a beautiful garden full of wildlife (including red squirrels), but perhaps most significantly it enjoys full disabled access and is the only cottage on Arran to be awarded category 2 accessibility. It's also newly refurbished so is very much looking its best. There's one, nicely furnished double bedroom, with a cot, but an additional single bed can be provided; the kitchen is well-equipped with washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher, and there's a DVD player and free wifi throughout. You're greeted with a welcome tray full of local goodies on arrival and the shed outside holds all sorts of equipment for various outdoor activities. As for Arran, it's very accessible and has got a bit of everything (it's often described as 'Scotland in miniature'), with fabulous beaches, mountains, rolling hills and a ton of things to do – for which Lamlash, and the cottage, are a perfect launching pad.
£325–£395 per week depending on season.
