Situated in the heart of the Surrey Hills AONB, you may not know that Cranleigh is one of the largest villages in England. It's also one of its prettiest, close to numerous country walks on Surrey's High Weald and with an army of great indy shops, pubs and restaurants to browse and graze in. Not only that, this cleverly converted Cowshed provides a great place from which to explore, and a perfect romantic country bolthole to boot, just an hour from London.

Within easy walking of the village, it feels like a long time since they were any cows in this cowshed. Beautifully converted, it's basically a cool, contemporary studio, with a spacious bedroom and living space together with a modern galley kitchen and a large walk-in shower and steam room, with snazzy chequerboard tiles. The space is light and airy, with well-chosen retro furniture, and a colour palette of greys and blues; the double bed is big (king-size) and comfy (it can convert to 2 singles), with good quality cotton linen, and there is underfloor heating to keep things warm and cosy, while the sitting area features comfy chairs, and a sofa book-filled shelves and doors that open onto the a private terrace with field beyond. It also has superfast wifi.  The property also its own large and secluded garden, with equally stylish outdoor furniture, so you can relax in peace; and there's a barbecue and firepit in case you fancy a spot of al fresco dining.

As for the location, well, it couldn't be better – literally within yards of the wonderful Downs Link footpath and cycleway, which follows two old railways lines across the Surrey Hills, High Weald and eventually the South Downs – another terrific conversion! There are a couple of Dutch bikes for guest use and the owners are on hand to advise on distances and stop-offs – there are loads of good country pubs in the vicinity.  It's hard to image imagine a more relaxing place to unwind this close to London.

A Little Gem

A beautifully and tastefully appointed converted milking parlour with parking space. Exceptionally high standard of cleanliness and comfort with a large enclosed courtyard opening onto fields. Kitchen is small but adequate for a short stay. High quality comfortable bed, bedlinen and towels. Large walk-in shower with sauna. Quiet location but within reach of nearby Cranleigh. Good location for walks - some from just outside the door, others a short drive away. Very helpful and friendly hosts, on hand if needed. We loved it!
