Tapnell Farm

Located just outside Yarmouth, on the western side of the Isle of Wight, Tapnell Farm is a family-run farm with 360-degree views, a beautiful rural setting and the best sunsets in the south. It hosts a popular family attraction in Tapnell Farm Park and Isle of Wight Aqua Park, but above all it's a terrific place to stay, with several high-quality self-catering options from farm cottages to manor house. It's really great if you're staying with extended family or a group of friends as the accommodation is very spacious and there's so much to do on site.

At the heart of the farm, the Dairyman’s Cottage has panoramic views of Tennyson Down, and sleeps up to 8 in 2 king/twin bedrooms and two double bedrooms, all en-suite. It's decorated with a rustic, shabby chic feel – sea-grass carpets and wood laminate flooring throughout, beautiful bespoke fabrics, luxury en-suite bedrooms and a high-spec open-plan living area and kitchen. There is a downstairs bedroom and wet room with full disabled access, as well as a garden and patio area with its own barbecue, and an electric hot tub that's perfect for soothing aching muscles after a long day of walking – or just relaxing under the stars with a glass of wine.

Next door, the Lookout is a gorgeous 2-bed cottage with an upstairs living area with views stretching across the farmland to the sea, while Poachers Lodge, on the edge of the farm, sleeps up to 8 and has views over rolling countryside and down towards Freshwater Bay. It's also tastefully decorated, and has a large garden surrounding the house, where you'll find Poachers Perch, a 3-bed cabin that sleeps 6.

If you need room for a bigger family or group of friends, then there's East Afton Farmhouse (which is also an award-winning wedding venue), just down the road from Tapnell Farm, which has 8 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, a cinema room, games area and private courtyard. Or, biggest of all, try Tapnell Manor with its rustic charm, 10 bedrooms, 7 bathrooms, games area and large living spaces.

The cottages are right on the doorstep of several footpaths and within driving distance of Freshwater Bay and other great beaches, but there's lots to do on site too at the Tapnell Farm Family Attraction. The farm also has luxury glamping options at Tom's Eco Lodge – fab safari tents, cabins, pods and domes that put the glam into glamping and have all the mod cons you could wish for as well as amazing views.

Meanwhile, the Cow restaurant has lots of scrumptious beef and dairy dishes, or head over to the Farm Shop for all of those handy bits and bobs that got left behind – delicious coffee and treats as well as lots of dishes for when you don't feel like cooking.
