Railway Cottage
UK England South West England Somerset Taunton
Ahhh... the age of the steam train conjures up images of Jenny Agutter and the Railway Children, when the summers always seemed hot and children would play pooh sticks in a sunlit stream all day before coming home for crumpets and tea. Those days are gone, but you can recreate those gentle times at Railway Cottage, an idyllic country setting within sight of the Quantocks where steam trains actually do chug by. What's more, despite the old-fashioned ambience the cottage itself has been totally renovated to the highest modern standards, with a kitchen with granite worktops, ceramic hob and dishwasher and a living room with squashy leather sofas and a large flatscreen TV and doors leading out to the garden and the hot tub. There's a master bedroom with a king-sized bed with views of the railway track and two further bedrooms look out over the hills. The cottage also has its own hot tub and dogs are allowed on request. There is a brilliant pub just a mile away too – and you're within easy distance not only of the Quantocks and Cheddar Gorge but also for the more urban delights of Bath and Glastonbury. All aboard then for the Railway Cottage in Somerset.
