Based in a beautiful rural Lancashire location, these luxury wooden cabins set a completely new standard for accommodation of this type. Not only do they occupy a perfect position in the spectacular Ribble Valley, on the edge of the Forest of Bowland AONB, but each is individually designed to the highest specifications, filled with light and with some impressively classy touches, including your very own hot tub. Sleeping between 2 and 6 people, they couldn't be more comfortable if they tried, and they make a terrific base for the area, whether you're a family, a group of friends or a couple looking for a romantic break.

There are eight lodges in all, varying in size from cosy one-bedroom affairs to three-bedroom properties large enough for a family with teenagers or a large a group of friends. Each is different, but they all have the same sort of open-plan living space, incorporating a sitting room, dining and kitchen area. Beautifully decorated and kitted out, they have lots of light, sleek furnishings, high-end kitchen equipment and oodles of contemporary style – something you don't always find in accommodation of this kind. Bedrooms have their own en-suite bathrooms, which is another plus, and the living space opens out onto a generously sized terrace with your own hot tub – perfect for a spot of star-gazing in what is officially one of Britain's 'Dark Sky Discovery' regions, with no less than 4 designated 'Dark Sky Discovery Sites' nearby.

As for the location, situated just outside the town of Clitheroe, you're well placed not only for exploring the Ribble Valley – a beautiful, rugged area that's also known as a centre for its gastronomy, with an array of great pubs and restaurants. Nearby Pendle Hill is a stunning landmark and a rewarding climb, with summit views that give some clue as to why it's linked to the founding of the Quakers, while the Bowland Fells or Forest of Bowland (though not really a forest) to the north offer more of the same gloriously open countryside – all of it a match for some of the better-known landscapes to the north and west. Cabin accommodation is popular and growing in the UK but we have to say these places are as good as it gets.
