Just over 100 steps away from the Old Stocks Inn – a place full of character in Stow-on-the-Wold – sits Parson's Barn, their Grade II listed cottage that's recently been refurbished and is really something quite special. Comfortably sleeping six adults and two small children (plus the dog, if you like), it's the perfect place for a family holiday – traditional yet luxurious, both spacious and cosy.
Stow is the highest town in the Cotswolds, sitting at a crossroads on top of an 800-foot hill – the barn is nestled right in the heart of it all, just a stone's throw away from the many shops and restaurants. Inside, there's a well-equipped open-plan kitchen (the fridge is stocked with a selection of local items) and a comfy lounge complete with bi-folding doors leading out to the patio. The terrace is a sun trap on a warm day and a lovely spot for an al-fresco breakfast or an evening drink. Upstairs, the three contemporary bedrooms are stylishly decorated, with exposed beams and splashes of colour here and there. Enjoy a cooked breakfast at The Old Stocks on the first morning of your stay; their restaurant is worth checking out of a lunchtime or evening too, featuring a British menu with a twist.
Located within 790 square miles of natural beauty, The Cotswolds are famed for their pretty villages, river valleys and lush green meadows. Get out and about and explore – Chastleton House is close by, as are the Rollright Stones. Beer lovers will be in their element, with the Cotswold Brewing Company just over three miles away. Then back to Parson's Barn, your relaxing bolthole, for some R&R.
The cottage comfortably sleeps up to 6 adults and 2 small children – there are 3 bedrooms (a king-sized double, a twin/double and 1 twin, plus 1 extra bed and/or travel cot can be provided in the master bedroom if needed).
The barn can be booked for a 3-night break or up to 14 nights. Changeover days are Monday and Friday. Weekend stays are a minimum of 3 nights and start at £800; weekday stays are a minimum of 4 nights and start at £900; longer stays start at £1,800 for 7 nights, up to £3,600 for 14 nights.
Open all year.
