For a truly spectacular stay, consider Clavell Tower, a Victorian folly sitting on a clifftop above Kimmeridge Bay, restored and owned by the Landmark Trust. The Tower – recently moved to its current position as it was getting perilously close to the cliff edge – is comfy, small and intimate, and has sublime views. Access is currently by foot only. A young Thomas Hardy is said to have wooed a coastguard’s daughter here and it remains a popular romantic spot, so book well in advance. Sleeps two, dogs are allowed.
PriceA four-night stay starts at £415.
