Having opened its doors in 1960 as the Island Hotel, this has long been one of the most stylish spots to stay on the Scillies. With its own sailing school, a private beach and gardens, gourmet cuisine and unsurpassed views over Grimsby Sound, the hotel has recently been converted into the Sea Garden Cottages – contemporary one-bedroom apartments available on a self-catering or catered basis. With the Ruin Beach Café constructed from old boat sheds, and an indoor pool and hot tub in a converted barn, there's a rustic simplicity to the luxurious vibe. However, such seaside beauty does come at a premium rate.
