Lerwick doesn’t overflow with great places to stay so the Queen’s Hotel is a welcome old dame. This grand old waterfront hotel may not be full of slick furniture or designer touches, but the staff are supremely friendly and many rooms boasts sea views out towards the island of Bressay. There are modern touches too, such as decent complimentary wifi connections, and the restaurant is pretty good, serving great local beef along with Shetland langoustines and scallops, and hearty breakfasts of Shetland salmon and scrambled eggs.
