The Georgian House at Haslemere, Coppa Club

On the leafy streets of Haslemere in Surrey, The Georgian successfully combines the elegant heritage of a Grade II-listed building with the conveniences of a modern members’ club. But, thankfully, you don’t have to be a member here to stay in one of its 13 guest rooms, to eat in its restaurant or drink in its bar. This is a Coppa Club venue, one of a handful of stylish spaces that have sprung up in London and the home counties that offer places for visitors to work, play and generally hang out – and now also have space to stay overnight.

There are 13 guest bedrooms at The Georgian, each echoing the style of the downstairs spaces, where modern prints, colour and plush upholstery sit alongside occasional retained heritage features like sweeping bannisters and panelled walls. In the bedrooms, all doubles of varying size, you can expect everything you need to relax, and everything you need to get going in the morning. There’s soft bedding and a flatscreen TV, tea and coffee-making facilities with fresh milk, a rainfall shower, hairdryer and iron, not to mention wifi throughout.

Breakfast can be included in your stay and eaten downstairs in one of The Georgian’s sociable spaces. It’s here that you can relax in the evening too. Coppa Club venues offer what they call an “unfussy” European menu and if you’ve found a favourite elsewhere, you’ll also find it here. There are small plates, bowls of pasta, sourdough pizza and salads with options for vegans and for those who are gluten-free. The elegant but modern surroundings are just right for a cocktail or two, and there’s a good range of those on offer too. Whether you’re here to work or play, this place works as both a getaway from the city and a place to stay too, less than an hour from London.
