Traditional British fare and country-house style rooms in Marylebone, a stone's throw from Edgware Road and Oxford Street
Who doesn't love a welcoming pub? The Grazing Goat is a sterling example, a warm and comfy spot with open fires and wood panelling, a downstairs bar serving local ales and seasonal plates, plus an inviting, first floor dining room looking out to New Quebec Street. Part of Cubitt House, an independent London-based business made up of a collection of watering holes and hotels such as The Alfred Tennyson and The Orange, this W1 gastropub not only serves quality grub but also houses guests overnight across eight stylish rooms set over three floors. Think country house decor with plenty of modern amenities including flat screen TVs, robes, safes and tea and coffee facilities. Positioned just a stone's throw from Edgware Road and Oxford Street and a five minute walk from Hyde Park, it doesn't get much better in terms of location – explore the shops of the West End, stroll to the Serpentine or check out one of the nearby high-end eateries such as Texture of Locanda Locatelli. Then back to the Grazing Goat to take respite from the hubbub of the capital, where you can feast on daily changing pies, a dry-aged burger with fries or opt for something a bit fancier like pan-fried hake with celeriac, hispi cabbage and lobster sauce, or pork loin and belly with bacon rösti, and date and lemon chutney. Produce is locally sourced, with seafood from Lyme Bay and rare breeds from Lyons Hill farm. And they do wonderful breakfast too.
In short The Grazing Goat is a great place to eat, and a fabulous place to stay on any trip to London.
