The mill stream still rushes by the Miller’s Arms and helps lull you to sleep – adding to the fact that this is one of those many Canterbury buildings where you can feel the history. And despite the fact that downstairs it’s a fairly ordinary chain pub, albeit one with decent beer and a good choice of food (a full English breakfast is included), all the rooms, named after Chaucer characters, are comfortable and well-equipped, though you have to pay for wi-fi. With the pleasant river on your doorstep and the cathedral just round the corner, this is a well located hotel for strolling around the city centre.
