This former Edwardian gentleman’s retreat on a bluff beneath Mortehoe affords a marvellously relaxed stay. The resort was recently refurbished so if you add to the mix, access via private steps to a lovely cove, you might well get one of the most romantic places in the area. From the squishy button-back sofas to tea served in a lounge overlooking the rocks of Coombesgate Beach, all is comfort and leisurely pace. All 30 guest rooms have the same spectacular coastal view – eight have a terrace or balcony – all in neutral white and grey walls with wooden floors. Did we mention the restaurant, the bistro, the outdoor and indoor pools with hot tub plus the spa area? Can wish for much more.
