A centrally located state-of-the-art hostel in a beautiful building, with a wide variety of accommodation.

If you thought that staying in a Jacobean house in the heart of London might be expensive, then think again. Because that's exactly what Safestay Holland Park is: a very comfortable place to stay, centrally located in one of the capital's most historic parks, and partly occupying a centuries-old mansion. It's also a hostel, so is one of London's more affordable places to stay. So what's the catch?

Well, there isn't one. In fact, in common with the other Safestay hostels around the UK – in York, Edinburgh and across London in Elephant & Castle – it's wonderfully well presented, with lovely public spaces, including a private courtyard garden, lounge and pool room. There's a huge variety of accommodation, from private rooms with en-suite facilities to bunk-bedded dormitories ranging in size from 4-bed and 6-bed versions (some with triple bunks) all the way up to dorms with 15 to 33 beds; all bunk beds are fitted with a personal night-light and power socket and surrounded by privacy curtains.

Families, backpackers, school trips – there's something for everyone, and the hostel couldn't be in a better location, ideally located for Notting Hill and Portobello Road, Hyde Park and the Kensington museums quarter – and, for that matter, the whole of London's central core.
