Falmouth Lodge Backpackers occupies an Edwardian
half-timbered semi, within easy reach of the town centre and just a street away from the pearly sands of Gyllyngvase beach – a
mainstay of Falmouth life throughout the year. Judi, the owner, is a true
traveller who has lived all over the world, and she has the knack of making things
really homely. There's a comfy living room (and an open fire in
winter), a conservatory off the little kitchen (where you can cook your
dinner on, or in, an Aga), and outdoor spaces back and front so you can make the
most of sunny days.
There are six rooms in all – three can be rented as dorms or family rooms, two are doubles or twins, and there's an attic room (with sea view), which is the one for anyone wanting a bit more privacy, as it has
its own bathroom. Judi only takes bookings by phone – this is
so she can talk to you and work out what arrangement will
suit you best.
Judi is also well connected with the owners of other independent hostels in Cornwall, so can help you plan a hostelling trip. This is a great place to stay for groups of friends or families on a budget, or for anyone travelling alone who wants to meet people – and a genuinely perfect location for surfers, beach bums and coastal path walkers!
