Moonbow Escapes is first and foremost a gorgeous country retreat for two, set within its own meadow in the middle of a series of fields, with extensive countryside views. Inside is larger than most shepherds huts, 22ft long and over 9ft wide, with a custom-crafted interior complete with solid oak floors, shuttered windows, a king-size bed with high-quality linen, kitchenette with hob, full-sized fridge and microwave, and an en-suite bathroom with toilet and shower. There's a a wood-burning stove, fluffy towels and robes are provided, and even on cold days you can happily pad about in your robe while the wood-burner and additional central heating keep you warm and toasty. There's even wifi and a Smart TV at the foot of the bed. For summer days, there is plenty of outside furniture, along with a firepit, barbecue and a proper outdoor covered kitchen for cooking up al fresco feasts. They provide a free starter-pack of wood, BBQ coals and firelighters, and you can order more when you run out. Finally there is a rather wonderful Kirami wood-fired hot tub, so you can wallow for a bit and look up at the stars.
As for the location, it's gloriously rural, with lots of country walks to do nearby, including an easy two-mile circular stroll via Clawmoor Woods and Lake. Further afield, Holsworthy is an attractive Devon market town with lots of amenities, while Bude, Widemouth Bay and the Hartland 'Heritage Coasts' of both Devon and Cornwall are less than half an hour away by car. The owners live nearby and are always on hand to advise on things to do and where to go and help you settle in.

Facilities
The huts our insulated and have oak floors, shuttered windows and a stable-style split door. They have a fitted king-sized bed (bedding, linen, towels and bathrobes provided), a wood-burning stove (as well as central heating), a kitchenette with hob, sink, full-sized fridge and microwave and all the crockery and utensils you'll need. The en-suite shower room has a shower, toilet and basin. There's also a smart TV and free WiFi. Outside there is a Kirami wood-fired hot tub, reclining chairs, a table, a firepit and a barbecue.
Suitable For
The Shepherds Hut is just for adults over 21+ Moonbow 1 and Moonbow 2 welcomes 1 small to medium sized well behaved dog.Nearby
Bude, Widemouth Bay and the North Cornwall Coast are around 12 miles away where their world-renowned beaches, scenery, coastal paths and surfing can be explored.
Dartmoor National Park is to the South and can be viewed in the distance.
Travelling further afield, The Eden Project is around an hour and a half’s drive away.
You can walk out from Moonbow Hut across our fields to Clawmoor Woods where a two-mile circular walk within the plantation taking in Claw Lake will prove rewarding for a gentle acclimatization.
Other immediate walks are a Cookbury Woods and the National Trust owned grounds at Dunsland house, both within a few minutes drive.
Food & Drink
The Market town of Holsworthy has a Waitrose and a M&S outlet at the local BP Station.
Local restaurants and takeaways are many and cater for most tastes and pockets.
Cycle tracks are well maintained and far-reaching and there are a few good quality fitness gyms and studios in the area. However, for those who wish not to indulge in such industrious pursuits relaxing at Moonbow Escapes with all its facilities will not be a disappointment.

The Owner Says
Our luxurious Shepherds Huts sleeps two both set their own private meadows encompassed by thirteen little fields that make up our mini-estate.
We are situated in Devon a few miles from the traditional market town of Holsworthy and are a short drive to the North Cornwall coast to the west and Dartmoor to the southeast.
We have positioned the Shepherds Hut to capture the view of the natural flora and fauna which is laid out before the backdrop of our local wood which can be accessed through our private entrance.

Getting There
Heading from the east or west take the A30 at Exeter, junction 31. Just
west of Okehampton turn off the A30 at Sourton and take the A386
signposted Holsworthy.
At the first mini roundabout take the first exit onto the A3079 again signposted to Holsworthy.
Take this road for approx. eight miles, through the village of Halwill Junction, then past the left turn for Halwill staying on the A3079. About a mile and a half later take a left turn at Morecombe Cross signposted Ashwater.
If you miss this junction and reach the T junction with the A3072 then turn back on yourself and take the first right, again, at Morecombe Cross.
You are now only 600 metres from Moonbow Escapes, carry on down this road until you see the sign on your right, turn down the track and about one hundred metres later will be The Moonbow Shepherds Hut.

Lovely secluded getaway
Lovely little shepherds hut down private driveway and with our own field it felt like a real country getaway. We found a Waitrose and a pick of local farm shops within a 20 minute drive as well as a charming woodland walk. Lovely finishing touches like biscuits, coffee and milk to make us feel more at home. The caravan was very spacious inside and had a quality feel to it with a comfy bed and nice shower stuff. The hot tub takes longer than expected to warm up, we're talking hours rather than half an hour but that's because it's log burner powered. Friendly hostess and quick replies. Overall a very good stay and would definitely come again
Everything you could want
Moonbow 1 is a beautifully appointed hut with everything you could possibly want for a cosy and relaxing stay. The position is quiet and private with nothing to disturb your peace and quiet. Recommended for a long weekend at any time.

As for the hot tub maybe I will put better instruction how to heat it up. If the wood burner is loaded up and a really good fire got going it only takes an 1 1/2 hours to heat up maybe slightly longer if the weather is extremely cold.

Breathtaking Escape
This was truly a lovely, mesmerising stay. My partner and I were very impressed with the cabin and everything on offer. It was very new, clean, efficient and had everything we needed in the kitchen, bathroom and access to internet and tv (which we didn’t need too much!). It also provided brilliant amenities with regards the hut and BBQ and fire assistance making everything even more relaxing and the kirami hot tub was the cherry on top! The easy access didn’t to road and neighbours made it feel safe and perhaps Moonbow 1 might offer the more secluded feel which we are also interested in but they remain very private which is also a massive plus! We can’t wait to return as access to the coastline/Waitrose and wilderness make this a perfect getaway!!!!

Such a great place.
We were very impressed with Moonbow escapes we stayed in Moonbow hut 1, we loved the fact that you are just left to your own accord and have the place to yourselves which makes it very special for a romantic weekend. Good instructions given before we got there for directions and how to work everything. Amazed at all the attention to detail, all the little added extras just made the weekend so much more enjoyable. Cannot fault Moonbow escapes and Sylvia was extremely helpful. The only thing that we didn’t realise was the hot tub would take a few hours to warm up so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to warm up that Tub. Thanks guys

An amazing experience!
The hut was amazing! The facilities, the space, so clean, comfy and warm inside, we had everything we needed! You have a lot of privacy but without feeling on your own out there, amazing views too! The barbecue, firepit and hot tub outside were fabulous! We ll definitely book again! Thank you!!
Absolutely perfect!
Honestly my partner and I had the most wonderful stay and cannot wait to go back! Right from the beginning the communication was flawless, informative and crystal clear. Our hostess Sylvia wad fantastic and accommodating from start to finish.
The hut itself was absolutely stunning, with all the amenities and more that you could need! And not to forget about the view... well we were blessed with stary nights and bright sunny days and it was utterly picturesque!
We had everything we needed and cleat instructions for using the wood fired hot tub (that was bliss), and a 10 minute drive from Waitrose and a small M&S in Holsworthy.
Without a doubt we would absolutely recommend this to anyone!
Such a great lovely stay
Took my wife here for her birthday and we both loved it! So peaceful everything there you need. Bbq, hot tub, big shower, fire nice outdoor area for food and drinks. Would 100% stay again highly recommend.
Just what was needed
The Shepherds hut was stunning, really well finished. The location was so peaceful, with stunning country views. The Hot Tub was icing on the cake and was well used. Everything we needed was provided, great hosts. Very clean and tidy. Highly recommend.
Peaceful and pretty weekend getaway.
Moonbow Escapes was a gorgeous holiday, with everything you could require provided. The hot tub and wood fired stove were easy to use and added so much to the stay. Plenty of room in the Shepard’s Hut and a lovely bathroom too. The hosts were more than accommodating and we would definitely stay again.
Amazing Relaxing Peaceful
Wow where do i start. what a fantastic quite peaceful place with outstanding views. The hut was absolutely beautiful and equipped with everything you could possibly need with extras such as coal logs and kindling to light the fire to heat the relaxing spacious hot tub. Me and my partner had such a lovely time and didn't want to leave we will definitely be returning.

This holiday getaway has been a little slice of heaven. Absolute bliss! My husband and I have enjoyed every minute of it and can’t wait to come back again.
The view is stunning and there a complete feeling of tranquility.
The Hot Tub is absolutely wonderful and really easy to heat up.
The shower is amazing.
Everything is beautifully clean, even the blankets in the storage cupboard smelt just washed.
The bedding, towels and dressing gowns are all wonderful condition.
The bed is extremely comfortable.
It really is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed!
You are doing a disservice to yourself not to visit here.

Absolutely stunning!!
This place is beautiful inside and out. Lots of lovely touches included such as logs, fire lighters, milk, sugar etc. The bed was really comfortable and the shower is massive. The outside hot tub is a little treat and we enjoyed heating it ourselves as it added to the character of the place. The hut is large for what it is and felt very roomy. It is kitted out with modern fixtures and fittings. Overall we had a wonderful stay and are planning to come back! We were lucky with the weather which meant we were able to make the most of the outdoor facilities. The hosts were friendly and messaged us prior to arrival letting us know we were able to check in early as well as making sure they were available if we had any queries. Would 100% recommend to anyone! It gives you the luxury glamping feel!

We had the most amazing time here. The hut was extremely clean and everything you need inside and out. The personal touches including robes made it extra special. Sylvia is a great host and communication was brilliant. We would definately recommend this place and will be back very soon!

Enchanting
Honestly the most enchanting and idyllic little hide away from reality.
The hut is so beautifully decorated and everything is catered for, from all your basics to the personal touches, such as binoculars to watch the wildlife, robes for the hot tub and all the little things you'd need for a lovely stay.
There is also such a lovely walk through the fields and woods just outside your door.
Our hosts were so lovely and helpful with anything and everything, our original visit had to be change due to the storm we had months ago but I'm glad we got to come in May, wild flowers in the fields, birds and wildlife roaming about, it was truly lovely!
We are both feeling refreshed!
Definitely be booking to come and stay again!
Loved it
I had a great time here. It was so relaxing sitting in the middle of the country side with little to no noise in the background, apart from the birds chirping. Peaceful, was just what i wanted to escape city life.
The hut is very comfortable and I slept like a log.
The outdoor space is plentiful and the wood burning hot tub is brilliant. I wasn't convinced I'd use it a lot but it's hard to stop once you start!
The whole experience was great and I would 100% return.
Waitrose is ten mins away for supplies, it's all easy once you get there.
Lovely weekend getaway
Lovely weekend away again! Always perfectly clean, bed linen smelt amazing! Hot tub is lovely for an evening and sheltered bbq area is great for those damp nights!
Peaceful remote break with luxury feel
This is the perfect place to come and get away from it all. The setting is idilic for a morning stroll round the fields and forest as the sun rises. The hut itself has everything you need and more, the bed was so comfortable and the hut is very spacious, finished to a really high standard.
The tub outside I used twice. Once at night as I bathed under a blanket of stars and once as the sun went down. You need to warm up for a few hours so plan accordingly for when you want to get in!
I stayed for the weekend but could easily stay a week, reading books, strolling and popping to the local pub if I didn't fancy cooking. Cooking is totally possible and easy here too. It doesn't have an oven but has two stove tops and a microwave. I made a delicious breakfast one morning and sat at my very own window table, watching the birds swoop over the fields. Everything about this place is delightful, I only saw a couple of dog walkers in the forest. It was a lovely, romantic weekend break, conveniently situated close enough to a Waitrose, pub and Bude town is around 25 mins away.

Romantic isolated lovely
A perfect space to get away from reality in the most peaceful and beautiful area. The cabin was perfect and the fire pit made it feel so special, the hottub was AMAZING (although takes a while to warm up) and the host was lovely. Honestly had a brilliant time and already want to go back. Note to self for next time… bring wellies!!

I’m glad you had a lovely time even though the weather wasn’t at its best. The hot tub usually takes about 90 mins to heat up but the stove does need to be full of logs during this time.

Everything you need is covered Inside and outside the hut. So warm and cosy :) The coffee machine and the whistling kettle were great additions. The outdoor area is great with wood fired hot tub, on a clear night you can sit and watch the stars, we even caught a shooting star on our first night!! The outdoor covered area was really helpful and We used the bbq to cook our dinners even though the weather was not the best. Walks around the forest are accessible by a few fields, a short walk from the hut! Great place for adventuring!! Overall such a lovely place to stay, really nicely done and very private area to relax!

Perfect, cozy retreat stunning views
Stayed at moonbow escapes for a getaway for my girlfriends birthday. Not far from a road but u feel like u are in the middle of no where. Excellent views we seen a some dear running around when we were in the hot tub ! Loved the shepherd's hut everything inside was well thought out and good quality. Had the best weekend would definitely come again.
Fabulous, peaceful, relaxing location
This gem of a hut is finished to a fantastically high standard, is cosy and comfortable; we never felt cramped.
Facilities are excellent. Even in January we used the outdoor seating under the shelter, and even watched the stars from the hot tub on the dry evening.
The views are stunning, the location suited us perfectly.
Fantastic Stay
My Partner and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this amazing Shepherds Hut. It had everything you needed and more. The wood fired hot tub was great! The surrounding landscapes were beautiful & peaceful. We will definitely be back in the near future!
Incredibly relaxing & peaceful!
We stayed in the hut for 4 nights and it was lovely! All the little compliments were bang on, everything you needed was to hand and exactly where you’d expect! Set in a beautiful quaint area! You have a spacious comfy bed, beautifully decorated, modern and warm cozy Hut. The wood fired hot tub was amazing and nights spent under the star filled skies I will never forget! The local walks were a great surprise and with parking and space a plenty; you feel right at home immediately! Thanks for an amazing stay!

Probably the most relaxed I’ve ever been! The hosts were exceptional, we had everything we needed and more! The hot tub was a little difficult to get going but once it did, it was pure bliss! Already thinking about our next trip there!!

Wonderfully equipped Shepherds Hut
Moonbow Escapes was a wonderfully equipped shepherd's hut, extremely confortable with super furnishings. It was lovely to walk through the flower filled meadows to the lake and beyond, catching glimpses of wildlife along the way and it's also within easy driving distance of the fabulous North Cornwall coastal scenery.
