Very much putting the glam in glamping, Tom’s Eco Lodge hosts a mixture of luxurious safari tents, well-appointed cabins, pods and domes each nestled amid the glorious surroundings of Tapnell Farm on the Isle of Wight.

The roomy safari tents offer accommodation for up to eight people and offer year-round glamping, with central heating and insulation to keep you nice and warm in the winter ; two also have wood-fired hot tubs. Each cabin sleeps up to 10 and has its own west-facing terrace to soak up the afternoon sun and to capture the spectacular sunsets, and comes complete with a spacious dining room, cosy beds with electric blanket, bunk beds and cabin beds for the kids, plus hot showers and a flushing loo, a fire pit and log-burning stove. The pods meanwhile are perfect for a couple, or snug for a family of four, with a double bed and a sofa bed: each has central heating, and features a well-equipped kitchenette, decked barbecue area and private shower room. There’s also some bespoke cabins they call ‘modulogs’ – inventive log-built pods for up to 6 people with great views and their own hot tubs.

Elsewhere on site there are picnic tables, a communal pizza oven and lawned area for games, while a popular restaurant and bar occupies a large converted Swiss barn in the middle of the farm. On a clear day you can see down to the north coast, while a long-distance footpath passes right through the grounds. All in all, we reckon this is the perfect place for a family glamping holiday on the Isle of Wight.

Nearby

The great thing about being a small island is that you are never far from the coastline, with its many miles of great beaches to discover. Whether you are looking to play, relax, walk, ride, sail, surf, kite or swim there are beaches for you. Our local favourites are Compton and Freshwater Bay. For food and drink lovers, great pubs, cafes, farm shops, vineyards and tasty restaurants welcome you all over the Island. Some of the most inspiring 'creative’s' in history once lived on or visited the Isle of Wight, from Tennyson and Shakespeare to Julia Margaret Cameron and Lewis Carroll. It is said that Shakespeare was inspired by Freshwater Bay and started writing 'The Tempest' whilst looking out over the breathtaking coastline.
