The quiet seaside town of Littlehampton has a couple of
aces up its sleeve: one is the Thomas Heatherwick-designed East Beach Café; the
other is the super-friendly, super-stylish Regency Guest House. This chic seafront
B&B is in a great spot, overlooking the boating pond near the mouth of the River
Arun, just across from the pebbly beach. Couples only, no children would indicate that this is a romantic destination. Bedrooms are beautifully decked out,
with striking prints and fabrics, and luxurious bathrooms, they’re also amazing value. But the main charm of the Regency comes from the lovely extra touches
laid on by its friendly owners, Nicole and Marina: how many other B&Bs do
you know that offer a breakfast featuring not only home-baked bread and home-made
jam but home-made brown sauce and ketchup as well? With Arundel a ten-minute drive away, the South
Downs National Park just beyond, and Chichester twenty minutes to the west, the
Regency makes a perfect Sussex base.
