Pebble House B&B
Escaping Londoners Simon and Andrea Copper totally rebuilt this beautiful Mevagissey B&B in 2013, and you can immediately see why they bothered – it enjoys stunning 180-degree views from its clifftop perch at the top of the village. But they didn't just rebuild it. Former corporate key account executive Simon and ex-ballroom and Latin American dancer, teacher and marketing guru Andrea have taken Pebble House to a new level, renovating throughout and making this landmark 1930s building into a proper boutique B&B that makes the most of what is, by any standards, a unique location.
For their B&B guests they have four luxury, boutique guest rooms, all of which have sea views, with floor-to-ceiling windows, and three of which have Juliet balconies. Bathrooms are well-equipped, uniquely decorated and stocked with Molton Brown goodies – and there's a front terrace to drink in those views, sitting and watching the fishing boats bobbing about in the harbour. Simon and Andrea take care to look after the other details too, and have a washing room for muddy walking boots and a drying room for wet beach clothes. Breakfast is an award-winning affair, enhanced by Andrea's homemade granola and homemade soda bread, as well as the sea views from the light, bright breakfast room. Self-catering guests can rent The House exclusively for up to 12 guests with every boutique bedroom enjoying TVs with DVD players and the luxury of an en-suite bath/shower room, a 46-foot chef's kitchen/dining room and a super comfy lounge – cook and relax with amazing sea views.
It's all beautifully and very stylishly done, and the great thing is that 'Everything is for Sale'. So if you especially like your bed, or the reclaimed mirror on the wall of your room – it's yours! Pebble House is also an adults-only B&B, and fully licensed, so makes a perfect romantic hideaway. However if you rent the property on an exclusive self-catering basis, kids are welcome too. It's a handy location for the South West Coast Path for extraordinary walks as well as a number of other attractions in what is a beautiful part of Cornwall – you're not far from either the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project – 5 and 15 minutes away respectively. But as Simon and Andrea are such great hosts you may not want to leave.
