Wheelbrook Mill
UK England South West England Somerset Bath
Now and then you come across a B&B which is so special you either want to keep it to yourself or shout its name from the rooftops. Debbie and John Fox's place is just such an establishment, and luckily we specialise in the latter! Situated in the peaceful small Somerset village of of Laverton, Wheelbook Mill is the perfect place from which not only to explore this area of outstanding natural beauty, but Bath too, which is only 8 miles away to the north.
Debbie and John are experienced hosts, and they would enhance your stay if they owned a run-down 2-bed terrace in Nowheresville. Happily, they occupy a substantial and very attractive converted water mill in the heart of the beautiful north Somerset countryside, surrounded by gorgeous mature gardens and with four guest rooms that can be adapted for everything from cosy doubles for loved-up couples to family rooms for up to 4 people; they also have an annexe that can sleep up to 6 people. Flexibility is the name of the game at Wheelbrook Mill, and Debs and John are nothing if not accommodating. There are also spacious reception rooms and the picturesque garden looks out over virgin open countryside.
Bath and Frome are handily located if you want a taste of town life, and Wheelbrook Mill is a good base for both, but to be honest you don't need to go very far at all to make the most of Wheelbrook Mill's excellent location: the nearby village of Hinton Charterhouse has two decent pubs, a village shop, a medieval church and a cricket pitch, and you might also want to sample the beautiful gardens and summer open-air jazz concerts at Iford Manor, which is within walking distance. Debs and John are also well situated for visits to Longleat, Lacock Abbey and lots more besides, and can advise you on all manner of days out – both lazy and challenging. All in all we couldn't think of a better or more welcoming place to stay whether you want to visit Bath or explore this undeniably verdant corner of Somerset and Wiltshire.
