Shorehouse B&B
Like contemporary Scarborough itself, Shorehouse is injecting a bit of style into the traditional seaside experience. Solid Victorian villa from the outside it may be, but inside the owners have made it very much a B&B of impeccable taste and quality. It has four rooms – two regular doubles and two larger suites – with crisp linens, designer fabrics and elegant furnishings. Bathrooms simply sparkle, and feature walk-in showers in the doubles and deep baths in the suites. This is high-end B&B accommodation, that's for sure, with an attention to detail that's evident right throughout the beautifully renovated house. Breakfast – free-range and organic where possible – is served in a handsome, calm downstairs dining room where the owners' travels are front and centre, from the well-used guidebooks to the striking photography. Great location too – five minutes from the lift down to the sweeping South Bay, and well away from the usual Scarborough tourist bustle though still only a 15-minute walk into the centre. All in all, Shorehouse is a real find and many people are already choosing to make it their base for an extended look at this scintillating part of the Yorkshire coast.
