The Roebuck Inn

In the heart of the leafy village of Mobberley, Cheshire, not far from Tatton Park, the Roebuck Inn was a rather sad affair a few years back – empty and in desperate need of some care and attention. Luckily for us, a major refurbishment 5 years ago saw the iconic building transformed into a stylish and extremely welcoming gastropub, with 6 individually decorated boutique bedrooms for those who want to prolong their stay. Dating back to 1708, it’s lost none of its pubby charm, and the bedrooms – they are named after grape types (Malbec is the cheapest, Picpoul the most expensive) – are full of character and charm: natural wood sits alongside leather and plaid while free-standing baths, open fires and antique and ornate French beds make each one truly individual. There are deliberately no phones or TVs in the rooms, making it a real retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life, and the food served downstairs is excellent, with an international menu that features all sorts of delicious dishes, from fresh fish tacos to massaman curry and beef bourguignon.
