Arguably the best base for the Northern Broads, you could do worse than hole up in Horning, a pretty riverside village with great facilities – 3 pubs, a couple of restaurants and a decent array of shops – and if you do then the best place to stay is the Moorhen, a really great B&B in the heart of the village. There’s a very warm welcome, four very nicely furnished en-suite rooms – two upstairs and two accessible from the garden – and they serve a fantastic breakfast. They also have a self-catering bunk-bedded cabin in the garden that sleeps four – the Coot Cabin – which is perfect for families or groups of friends. But be sure to book – they get booked up way in advance.
