A relaxing stay away from the stresses and strains of daily life.

It could hardly sound more tantalisingly peaceful – a vegetarian B&B, set in a Buddhist meditation centre housed in an historic mansion in rolling Wolds parkland. The five comfortable rooms (three of them en-suite) are in the former stable block, away from the main house, and feature country pine furniture and oak floors. Breakfast is continental veggie, served in the centre's own World Peace Cafe in the grounds, and there's a self-catering kitchen too. The retreat wears its Buddhist mantle lightly – there are no TVs, and no shoes or alcohol allowed inside the rooms, but that's about it. What you do get is peace and quiet in abundance, and an invitation to walk the 42-acre gardens, grounds and woods, visit the Buddhist Centre, and then head back to the cafe later for tea and organic cake or a vegetarian lunch.
