A quirky family run B&B close to the River Dart estuary.

‘Quirky’, ‘eccentric’ and ‘the marmite of the hotel world’ are just some of the adjectives we’ve heard used to describe Richard and Sheila Johnston's fantastic country bed and breakfast. Just a mile outside Dittisham, it’s both a romantic haven and an idyllic family retreat.

The four rooms are individually styled and vary in standard, but all are en-suite: one has a four-poster bed, another is large and open plan with a sunken bath and a balcony overlooking the wild stream; two of the rooms inter-connect, making them perfect for a family with small children. There are also self-catering properties sharing the free facilities on site. A grass tennis court, croquet lawn, games room, heated indoor pool and sauna overlooking the stream will ensure you’re never bored. Meals are served in the 17th-century wood-panelled dining room, and prices include breakfast; the restaurant is open for evening meals twice a week.
