Ann Tysons
UK England North West England Cumbria
For character-filled accommodation in the chocolate-box village of Hawkshead, look no further than Ann Tysons, a flower-decked traditional B&B tucked up a ancient cobbled lane. William Wordsworth once lodged here, and the oak beams, tight corners and antique furniture all help rachet up the atmosphere. They’re very proud of the antique carved bed in room 1, which came from writer and aesthete John Ruskin’s estate at Brantwood, while two other rooms open directly onto the cobbled lane. However, the best room is up the lane in the oldest part of the building, featuring a roll-top sleigh bed and a snazzy slate bathroom with underfloor heating.
